We encourage every membership to have
least one (1) maintained food plot with the
proper amount of Lime and Fertilize.
We recommend every pipeline or highline stand to have a maintained Spring and Fall food plot.

East Texas has only 5-6 weeks of adequate nutrition in a year, from mid-April to mid-June. After June nutrition declines and late born fawns have a much lower chance of survival.
For good antler development and good doe health you need 11-16% Protein Source. Pineywoods Plant Forage average is 7-11% Protein.
Food plots are the most cost effective, about 10% cost of dry feed cost.
Corn's protein is a little over 7%, a deer needs 8 - 16 % protein to maintain good health and antler development.
Any feed, dry or food plots, add to the deer's nutrition.
Don't forget the Lime-
All East Texas soils are low ph except black land.
Always get a soil test before applying lime or fertilizer.
The following is recommended for East Texas food plots
Spring - Iron clay cowpeas
Fall - Buck Forage Oats and Clover
